Dear members, On the brink of 2025, it feels important to acknowledge that the new year brings uncertainty. We appreciate those UA members who are stepping into and continuing in leadership roles. Last week, UA members elected officers and members-at-large to the Executive Council for a new two-year term, July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2027. Scroll down to learn more about UA’s leaders. With strong leadership and membership, we’ll continue to defend academic freedom and social justice. We’re relaunching UA’s Civil Rights Committee with an initial meeting on January 15. We will also remain focused on issues of specific interest to our membership: We will continue to advocate for better working conditions for Lecturers, and we will continue to address the problem of wage compression. We’re committed to our continuing effort to democratize the Board of Trustees through legislative action to include voting faculty, staff, and student members. We will actively support our fellow campus unions UVM Staff United and Graduate Students United, who are still in prolonged contract negotiations. And our Contract Administration Committee will continue to work to protect our new contract. Stay tuned for new Know Your Faculty Rights updates next semester to help educate and empower our members.
