Dear faculty, This is our last newsletter of the 2021-22 academic year. Most regular UA committees start summer vacation in June, though our Contract Administration Committee will stay active. Part-time faculty will also continue bargaining over the summer, and the team will need your ongoing support. Please look out for invitations to observe. Bargaining sessions are on Zoom, so joining as a muted observer from wherever you are is incredibly easy! Also this summer, our affiliate unions are holding conventions and meetings (see details below, ‘Upcoming Events’). Reminder: please let us know by Monday if you would like to serve as a UA voting delegate. Our mighty legislative committee has worked so hard this year to support a bill to add faculty and staff to the Board of Trustees. The bill made it very close to passing, thanks in large part to the persistence of our members and our collaboration with other unions, but unfortunately did not pass in the end. We plan to revive these efforts in next year’s legislative session. Finally, we are saying goodbye to a number of UA powerhouse members as they retire this spring, having contributed immensely to building and strengthening UA and supporting UVM colleagues.
