Negotiation Report: May 1, 2009 The United Academics has been negotiating since mid-January for a new contract for part-time faculty members. The administration and we have reached tentative agreement on a number of non-economic Contract Articles, including Access to University Facilities, Right to Information, Professional Resources, Grievance and Arbitration Procedures, Discipline and Workload. We are also close to agreement on article dealing with Evaluations and Appointments; however, the administration resists our efforts to increase job security every step of the way. Your UA team is working to make all articles more transparent and workable for part-time faculty. Click here to read the second negotiating team report.
Negotiations Reach State of Impasse: May 29, 2009 After five months of negotiations, the University administration and United Academics have failed to reach agreement on a second, part-time faculty contract. The parties mutually agreed to declare impasse yesterday and expect to begin mediation in June. Click here to read UA's press release declaring impasse.

Highlights of the Tentative Collective Bargaining Agreement: July 27, 20009 We reached settlement on the part-time faculty Agreement late in the afternoon on July 2, 2009. We believe that we have made some valuable gains, particularly given the economic climate in which we negotiated. The settlement was reached after working with a mediator, following a joint announcement in May that the parties had reached impasse. The bargaining committee recommends ratification of this tentative agreement, which will last from July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2012.
